IGTV was Instagram’s long-form video feature, allowing users to upload vertical videos longer than one minute.
IGTV (Instagram TV) was Instagram's dedicated long-form video feature launched in 2018 to allow creators to share vertical videos up to an hour in length. It was designed as Instagram's answer to YouTube, providing a space for more in-depth content beyond the platform's traditional short-form videos.
As of late 2021, Instagram began phasing out the separate IGTV brand, consolidating its video offerings under the unified "Instagram Video" format. However, the term IGTV remains relevant in social media vocabulary as many users and creators still refer to Instagram's longer video content by this name.
IGTV (Now Part of Instagram Video): Meant for polished, long-form content—tutorials, interviews, product demos.
‍Reels: Short, fast-paced, often trend-driven videos (up to 90 seconds).
